Undergraduate CIS Programs such as the one developed by Karl Reimers, Ph.D. and Leem Shim, Ph.D., members of the CIS faculty at UMO, help to prepare students to take and pass various IT industry certifications such as the CompTIA Network+, Security+, and Project+ certifications. Because certification tests are designed with the help of industry and employer feedback, certifications give employers a high degree of confidence that prospective employees have attained the necessary and current skillsets.

To help students master the learning content required to take and pass the certification tests, many students are engaged in constructing state-of-the-art websites that will help them attain the relevant certification knowledge. Passing a certification test not only increases student self confidence, but also it enhances their résumé! Websites developed by University of Mount Olive students include: Speedocx.com, TeachTechEdu.com, SMMCERT.com, Farms2Fridges, and our lastest addition- ROGBuild.com.   The CIS program created an advanced web development course that enables students to research, develop and implement websites that are easily modified and maintained by the end user.
